Fear Of Death-Thanatophobia-Necrophobia covers the causes, signs, symptoms and treatment, along with what you can do about this condition.

Fear Of Death-Thanatophobia-Necrophobia

Causes Of Thanatophobia-Necrophobia:

Our natural survival instinct has ample fuel to begin the fire of phobia.  Experience the death of a pet, a loved one, or a horrific event in the media and all the seeds are sown.  Some people will develop a morbid fear of all things related to death.  Often, Just not being ready for what comes after produces the fear of death.  Fear of that unknown eternity causes them extreme anxiety and paralyzes them whenever the subject comes up.

Signs And Symptoms Of Thanatophobia-Necrophobia:

Everyone has a rational fear of death built in as survival instinct, but extreme and irrational fear of personal death, situations involving death (like funerals) or dead things is thanatophobia or necrophobia.  Phobias are identified by extreme anxiety or panic every time a specific circumstance is encountered...in this case...death.

Treatment Of Thanatophobia-Necrophobia:

Most people come to acceptance of death, with age, as an unavoidable reality.  Those who suffer from the phobia need a little help getting to that point, particularly if their responses to situations involving death are extreme and limiting to their lives.  Anxiety medications, coupled with psychological therapy can reduce the symptoms and give you the right perspective on death, eventually eliminating the need for medicines.

What You Can Do About Thanatophobia-Necrophobia:

The best self help is the regular practice of facing the reality of your own eventual death and that of everyone else.  As strange as it may sound, death is part of life.  That's where we all go...the thing we can't see beyond.

Preparing For Death:

There is something you can do to prepare for death, just as learning to read prepared you for life, and getting a home prepared you for raising a new life.  I'm not talking about something religious or doing good works to make up for bad...that's not possible.  The way we prepare for death is to have a relationship with our Maker.  Fortunately, He did all the work so all we have to do is accept Him.  If you want to begin this relationship, go to healing from God.
