The Common Cold is primarily caused by any of several different viruses. Since we're in almost constant contact with these viruses (by breathing the air or by touching infected people or objects), other conditions may contribute more to the cold than just contact with the virus. These conditions can include fatigue, physical or emotional stress, weakened immune system or poor nutrition.
Your probably already know these. Sneezing, chills, sinus congestion, cough, sore throat, loss of taste, headache, watery eyes, sinus pressure, fever. Early signs: Dryness, or tickle in the throat or sinuses. People with breathing disorders and smokers have much more severe symptoms.
You've heard the old saw...drink plenty of fluids, get lots of rest, keep warm. Really good advice! Add to this a light regular diet, green or black tea, and no stressful conversation or entertainment. If you have a history of Asthma, Emphysema, Pneumonia or other breathing disease...colds are not something you should try to work through...get down and stay down until the symptoms are gone. If the symptoms become severe...see a doctor.
Things you can do to help prevent a cold: Make a habit of exercise, lots of water, lots of fiber, Multi-Vitamin supplement, Multi-Mineral Supplement, Antioxidant Supplement, extra Vitamin C and Organic Germanium supplement. Regular use of Green tea can also be beneficial.
Note: Since I supplement with Organic Germanium, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Zinc, I don't get more than a minor cold each year. At the first sign of a cold, I take 100,000 IU of Vitamin A, 150mg of Zinc and 1,000mg of Vitamin C...Once. This usually stops my cold within 24 hours. Glen
