AIDS Signs And Symptoms covers the causes, signs, symptoms and treatment, along with what you can do to fight this disease.

AIDS Signs And Symptoms

Causes Of AIDS:

AIDS is a deficiency in the immune system which is acquired when the AIDS virus becomes active in our bodies.  The virus requires actual contact with our blood to infect us.  This happens most often from sexual intercourse and intravenous drug use and less often from doctors, dentists and hospitals.

Signs And Symptoms Of AIDS:

Unfortunately, it's possible to have and spread the virus for years without any signs or symptoms.  The good news is, we can test for the virus.  If you're in a high risk group (homosexual, multiple sex partners, intravenous drug user, sex with strangers) it's important to get tested frequently.  Doctors, dentists, nurses, etc. should also have frequent AIDS tests.  Early testing is essential to stop the spread of the disease and for your survival.  Right now, the average survival time of those diagnosed with the virus is about 20 years.  If you wait until you have symptoms, the average survival is 5-6 years.

The virus can become active and start producing symptoms within weeks, to years, to never.  Symptoms begin just like the flu, but progress to include frequent infection, swelling in neck, armpit and groin, weight loss, fatigue, fever, persistent cough and diarrhea.  Other symptoms depend on what viruses you come in contact with.

Treatment Of AIDS:

There are antiviral drugs now available which dramatically increase survival rates if the AIDS virus is detected early enough.  Sadly, the success rate drops dramatically once you start showing symptoms.  AIDS, unfortunately, leaves you vulnerable to so many different diseases, it's not possible to discuss the wide variety of treatments in one article.  We recommend you do everything you can to optimize your chances for survival by following your doctor's advice and even by taking part in experimental treatments that may prolong life expectancy.

What You Can Do About AIDS:

Prevention:  If you've already been diagnosed, go to the next paragraph.  The best way to treat AIDS is to stay away from it.  Don't do the things that expose you to the virus.  Condoms and needle exchanges, for instance, are not 100 % successful, but abstinence is.

What to do when you're diagnosed:  Verify the test results.  Work with your doctor and discuss plans before changing your diet and exercise routine.  Follow a low fat diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.  Fill your life with aerobic activity and exercise.  Make sure you're drinking enough water.  Supplement your diet with natural Multi-Vitamins and Multi-Minerals, along with extra doses of the following to strengthen your immune system:

Antioxidants; including Beta Carotene, Flavonoids, LycopeneVitamin A, Zinc, Vitamin E, Vitamin C and CoQ10.
Organic Germanium; 300-450mg divided into 3 doses a day.
Fiber; 12-15 grams extra from vegetable sources or supplements.
Garlic; 3-6 cloves per day.
Omega 3; 3 per day, 1 at beginning of each meal.
Selenium
Lipoic Acid; at least 200 mg per day, divided into 2-3 doses.
Yogurt, fat-free, sugar free; at least 1 serving per day.
