Osteoporosis is a bone disease that results in loss of bone weight and strength from middle age on. Some of the causes of Osteoporosis are poor diet, Vitamin D Deficiency, and hormone imbalances and Calcium Deficiency or Toxicity.
With no initial or early signs, Osteoporosis is often not discovered until serious damage has occurred. At that time, the symptoms include severe back ache, loss of height, "hunched" look, brittle bones, hip and spine stress fractures.
Considering how serious it is before any signs show up, many take a preventative approach. In fact, hormone replacement therapy is one of the methods doctors use to try and head-off Osteoporosis in women, though, with mixed results. Other drugs, taken as little as once per week, can significantly reduce the risk of this disease. See your doctor regularly from age 40 on and take any tests as they become available. Women, after Menopause should be receiving some form of preventative treatment.
If Osteoporosis is a concern, avoid high protein diets, high sugar foods, alcohol, caffeine and smoking. Follow a low fat diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, keeping weight at the low end of your normal weight (see BMI Calculator). Supplement your diet with natural Multi-Vitamins and Multi-Minerals, along with extra doses of the following:
Antioxidants; including

Vitamin A,
Zinc,
Vitamin E,
Vitamin C and
